En passant
Step 1 of 5
If an opponent’s pawn moves two squares from its starting square and lands right beside your pawn, you may capture it as if it had moved only one square. This is called en passant, French for “in passing”. The black pawn came from d7 to d5; the white pawn on e5 takes it by moving to d6. You may do this only on the very next move.
Watch an en passant capture.
Move 0 of 2
The black pawn has just moved from c7 to c5. Capture it en passant.
Task in progress
This time you are Black. The white pawn has just moved from g2 to g4. Capture it en passant.
Task in progress
Some time ago the white pawn moved from g2 to g4. Black made another move then, and White moved again. Can Black now capture the pawn on g4 en passant with the pawn on f4?
