Draws
Step 1 of 6
Not every game has a winner; sometimes it ends in a draw. The first way is stalemate: the side to move has no move, but its king is not in check. The second is too few pieces: nobody has enough left to checkmate, for example when only the two kings remain.
The third way: the same position appears on the board three times. The fourth, the 50-move rule: both sides make 50 moves without any capture or pawn move. The fifth: the two players agree to a draw.
White has a king and a bishop, Black only a king. Why is the game drawn?

It is Black’s turn. Why is the game drawn?

Both sides have just made 50 moves without any capture or pawn move. Why is the game drawn?
Task in progress
Black has far more pieces, so you cannot win. But you can give check again and again! Give check with your queen; the black king will go back and forth between two squares. When the same position appears for the third time, the game is drawn.
